\"\"In their May 2011 issue,\u00a0Digital Camara Magazine (UK)<\/a> published an interview and images about my experiences covering the Wenger Patagonian Expedition Race<\/a>. The title of the article is “Postcards from the Edge: The World’s Toughest Race.” While it may be debatable as to whether or not the Wenger Patagonian Expedition Race is the in fact the “world’s toughest race” it is certainly in the running along with the Tour de France, Iditarod and the Race des Sables among others. My thanks to Geoff Harris and Digital Camera Magazine for producing a great article. The layout as you can see above is quite nice as well. I will say that the editors did play the story up a bit. I did fall into quicksand in 2008, the first year I covered the race but I never went full on hypothermic as they state in the article. I might have been mildly hypothermic in 2010 crossing the Beagle Channel but we rescued ourselves and dealt with it at a nearby Chilean Naval station. My favorite quote from the article is “The quicksand had locked on to me like Concrete. I nearly tore my shoulder out of it’s socket trying to get out. Luckily I was able to dig and push myself free.” That was a wild experience and up to that point I didn’t really know if quicksand or any such thing ever really existed outside of Hollywood. It does, and well, I am just glad I was able to get out of it.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
