My good friend and fellow photographer Andy Biggs posted this video about Wired’s new electronic version of their magazine and I thought it was so good that I would post the video as well.
On a similar note, This past weekend here in Santa Fe, the New Mexico branch of the ASMP (American Society of Media Photographers) had Rob Haggart of APhotoEditor.com come speak to us on Social Media Marketing and the Future of Media. Rob talked at length about how magazines and newspapers are changing and the format in which they will be delivered. One of the stand out quotes from Rob while he was talking about the future of media (meaning both magazines and newspapers) was that, “the more crowded the online world gets, the more important good photography becomes” so that a magazines, newspapers and advertisers can stand out from the crowd.
I will add that as the online world gets crowded and the photography strives for higher ground, photographers will need to devote more effort to their platform and to how they reach their own audience.
I think your audience, and your brand, will be as valuable as your photography in the future.
Great new site, branding, and blog Michael!
Thanks Andrew – congrats on all the press on A Steady Drip. I saw it on Outside Online. And I’ll be posting a blog about that here in a few days once I get my next newsletter out.
