There were some good shots in that reel. Curious about some of the road bike shots… You had a crane in the back of a pickup with the Red ONE on it, I could see some signs of the smoothcam filter that is often use to reduce camera shake/wobble. Did you guys use the smoothcam filter? Why not rent a gyro? The results would have probably been better…
Charlie – The crane wasn’t as smooth as we would have wanted it. We needed a much bigger truck and much more robust crane. I am not sure a gyro would have worked for that. I know they did use something in post to smooth out a few of the cycling shots but I am not sure what the editor did.
Coming late to the game isn’t such a drawback when you come in at the top of the game. This piece is outstanding, not only because of its technical excellence, but because it is engaging, inspirational, and the story flows seamlessly.
