Mike – Adobe’s actions remind me of Teddy Rosevelt’s quote, “Walk softly and carry a bug stick.” I too have been playing with this new feature and my only comment here is “Wow.”

Make sure you have updated Photoshop to the latest version and are trying to use this feature in Adobe Camera Raw.

I too have been playing with this feature and agree it is suerb. I also tried it on a very old cropped file from an old 4MP camera and a scanned film negative. Results from both are excellent (and on my blof if you’re interested). I think it is also worth pointing out that this feature is fully functional with Fuji X-trans sensors since Adobe ran through the entire machine learning process twice – once for bayer and once for x-trans.

Thanks for the write up Michael. I was not getting the ‘Enhance’ option in camera raw, so with a little research realized I had to use a different workflow. I just figured you could export from lightroom as smart object and then go into cR from there but that doesn’t work. One must open photoshop, then choose ‘File’ then ‘open’ from the menu above.

Whats your thoughts on using this if you camera somehow switched to JPEG during the middle of a ceremony and you want to recover as much as possible for post processing? Im wondering if this is something that should be done prior to editing or if I am overthinking this

Michael – This won’t convert your jpeg image file back into a raw image file. Hence, it is only for upressing your images. It is definitely a tool for use after processing.
